Το Stigma Lab, "Η Πρώτη Στέγη της Τέχνης του Δρόμου" φιλοξενεί τον μήνα Φεβρουάριο τους ΒΑ 17, μια ομάδα καλλιτεχνών που δημιουργήθηκε το 2011 στην Αθήνα και αποτελείται απο τους: Έρση Βαρβέρη, Κωνσταντίνο Λιανό, Ανδρέα Χρονόπουλο και Σωτήρη Φωκέα. Μαζί με τους  Μίου, Poison & Tesla Lab θα παρουσιάσουν την έκθεση Brodmann Area 17 - who is Brodmann?
Η έκθεση αυτή είναι μια προσπάθεια της ομάδας να συνδιάσει όλα τα στοιχεία της σε εναν ενιαίο χώρο με πολλά, διαφορετικά στυλ, τεχνοτροπίες και τεχνικές. Ένας φόρος τιμής στον Korbinian Brodmann, για πολλούς ο πρώτος public artist της ιστορίας.

Ο Brodmann, γόνος αστικής οικογένειας έζησε πολύ δύσκολα παιδικά χρόνια. Ο πατέρας του γνωστός νευροχειρουργός της εποχής, επιθυμούσε να δει το γιό του να συνεχίζει το έργο του. Ο νεαρός Korbinian Brodmann είχε εκφράσει ήδη τις καλλιτεχνικές του ανησυχίες και δε δεχόταν ν' ακολουθήσει το δρόμο του πατέρα του. Σε ηλικία 21 ετών έφυγε από το σπίτι του για ν' αναζητήσει το όνειρο του στα μοναχικά λιβάδια της Ελβετίας. Εκεί, συνδιαλέχτηκε με τα στοιχεία της φύσης και ανακάλυψε το δρόμο του προς τη τέχνη. Άρχισε χαρτογραφώντας το τοπίο, ενώ έκανε πικ-νικ. Έχοντας χαρτογραφήσει όλη την Ελβετία, ο Brodmann κατάλαβε πως η τέχνη του έπρεπε να γίνει πιο προσωπική. Καθώς προσπαθούσε να σκαλίσει ένα tag, γλίστρησε σε μια πλαγία από παγωμένο χιόνι και χτύπησε σ' ένα βράχο το πίσω μέρος του κεφαλιου του.

Πολύ αργότερα ο Brodmann θα καταλάβει ότι το ατύχημα είχε γίνει σε ένα παράλληλο σύμπαν όπου ο Korbinian ξαναγγενήθηκε ως ο πατέρας του.

Αναρρώνοντας από το χτύπημα, ο Brodmann, αποφάσισε να ενώσει τις άριστες χαρτογραφικές τεχνικές του με τις επιστιμονικές γνώσεις του πατέρα του, προκειμένου να δημιουργήσει ένα χάρτη για τη μεγαλύτερη χώρα του κόσμου, τον εγκέφαλο!

Brodmann Area 17 - who is Brodmann?

The exhibition is a tribute to Korbinian Brodmann, considered by many, the first public artist in history.

Brodmann, an offspring of a bourgeois family had rough childhood years. His father, a famous neurosurgeon of the time, wished to see his son continuing his work. Young Korbinian had already expressed his artistic concerns and did not accept to walk on his fathers steps. At the age of 21, he left his home to pursue his dream in the lonely fields of Switzerland. There, contemplating the elements of nature, he found his way to art. He started by mapping the scenery while having a pic-nic. Having mapped all of Switzerland, Brodmann understood that his art had to become more personal. While trying to curve a tag on a tree, he slipped on frozen ice and hit his head on a big rock.

Some time later, Brodmann wil realise that the accident took place in a parallel universe where Korbinian was re-born as his father.After recovering from the accident, Brodmann decided to combine his excellent mapping skills with his fathers scientific knowledge, in order to create a map of the biggest country of the world, the brain.

BA17 is a team of artists (Ersi Varveri, Constantine Lianos, Adreas Chronopoulos and Sotiris Fokeas ) who got together in 2011 and are based in Athens / Greece.

This exhibition will take place whole February(2012) and is the team's attempt to combine all their different elements in one single space, using many different styles and techniques.
