During each workshop, the participants would creatively develop their skills and shape their ideas into a final form. With the practical exercises they learn features to express in film, photography and creative arts. Both theoretical and practical part of the workshop would fill up the gap existing in education in Slovakia, unlike in the other countries, and that is media education and all related to it. The work of participants would result in all-made video-movies, photographs and works of visual arts, which are to be presented on 13th August, 2010 during the film seminar 4 Elements (www.4zivly.sk).

The 4 Elements are the general partners of the MPhilms Summer Workshop 2010 and the expected number of its visitors (approx. 200 people) is a real challenge for the participants of the workshop. The authors get immediate feedback which could contribute to their artistic future work. Later on, all the works will be presented on the MPhilms web site www.mphilms.sk.

The participants of the workshop get the accreditation for 4 Elements which allow them to attend every seminar of the event. They get a chance to view many interesting works of Slovak and world cinematography with the introductions of well known lecturers. Along with the art experts leading the workshops, the organizers also provide technical equipment necessary for individual projects (cameras, editing equipment, computers etc.), and food and accommodation for the participants.

The target groups and activities:
The workshop is focused on people in the age of 15 to 25, who want to get closer to individual forms of art. We assume that part of the applicants comes from secondary art schools, but we would be happy to welcome young people from other areas as well. We believe that with this specific
programme guaranteed by the experts, with open atmosphere and inspiring place of the workshop we could attract wide spectrum of young people.

Also, include one page essay about yourself, your education, experiences with art and explain why you would like to take part in the MPhilms Summer Workshop 2010 and which workshop you would preferably attend.

Costs:
The participant’s fee is 90,- € paid at arrival. The fee includes accommodation and food 3 times a day in Banská Štiavnica in dates of 2nd to 15th August 2010, accreditation on the film seminar 4 Element and all the equipment necessary for the artwork. Only the travel costs are to be covered by the participants.

Place:
The MPhilms Summer Workshop 2010 will take place in Banská Štiavnica in the Scout house (www.skautskydom.sk), which is a multifunctional house in the centre of Banská Štiavnica. All participants will be accommodated in the Scout house together with the lecturers and organizers of the workshop. The house offers also rooms for work (editing rooms, art studios, etc.). The food will be provided in a near restaurant downtown, breakfast directly indoors.
