Arirang είναι ένα κορεάτικο δημοτικό τραγούδι, τόσο διαδεδομένο στη χώρα που ανεπίσημα θεωρείται ο εθνικός ύμνος. Επίσης αποτέλεσε τη βάση για την πρώτη Κορεάτικη κινηματογραφική ταινία την εποχή του βωβού. Ο Kim Ki-Duk αναζητεί την πηγή του είναι του στα αρχέτυπα της χώρας του και του κινηματογράφου της. Εικόνες καταλόγων, αφισών, αποσπάσματα από τις ταινίες του διακόπτονται από χέρια που δένουν ένα περίστροφο και πυροβολούν. Μοναδικό πρόσωπο της ταινίας είναι ο ίδιος.
